Updates on My Projects and the Roadblocks We’re Facing

If there’s one thing I’ve learned while juggling my wild mix of projects, it’s this: Progress rarely goes as planned.

It’s a dance of excitement, frustration, and a lot of sunshine breaks. Whether it’s my greenhouse garden game, GalaxGlass, or my growing pile of blog ideas, every step forward comes with its share of hurdles. Here’s where things are at and what’s slowing me down—but don’t worry, I’m not stopping anytime soon.

The Greenhouse Garden Game

What’s Happening:

  • The game’s concept is finally taking shape! I’m working on making it a playful, beginner-friendly way to dive into cryptocurrency. Think plants, NFTs, and a lot less crypto jargon.

  • I’ve mapped out plant tiers, from the everyday lettuce to rare hybrids that will keep players hooked. NFT integration through OpenSea? Yep, I’m dreaming big.

Roadblocks:

  • I tried to use Replit for the original coding and thought I could later have someone design everything on the backend for me, but decided that is not going to work. I tried for a few weeks several hours a day to make it work, but in the end, it isn’t able to help. I switched to finding a developer on Fiverr for now.

  • Money, money, money. Finding the right developer within my budget feels like searching for a unicorn—but I’m determined to make it work.

  • Balancing the gameplay with educational elements has been tricky. I want it to be fun, but also sneakily informative. Easier said than done, but I’m on it.

The GalaxGlass Project

What’s Happening:

  • After testing the lenses, I’ve got some ideas to make them better. Collaborating with the International Dark-Sky Association is still on my wish list, and I’m diving deeper into understanding optical filters.

Roadblocks:

  • Funding. Again. Big dreams need big bucks, and right now, the piggy bank is looking a little slim.

  • The first lens tests didn’t exactly blow me away. I’m still figuring out if it’s the lens size, light glare, or just my wishful thinking getting in the way.

Writing Projects

What’s Happening:

  • My energy drink blog is buzzing along. I’ve got big plans to explore the health impacts, performance boosts, and even the odd controversies around energy drinks.

  • Over on my personal blog, I’m diving into topics close to my heart, like baking, the food system, and why tomatoes taste better when you grow them yourself.

  • My Pairing Paws book number 2 is almost there! It is edited with all the small aspects done (acknowledgments, copyright page, author bio, etc.). I am waiting for my friend Chris Marcus to write an introduction, as well as two cat breeds left to find, and then I will be set to send it along to the company I used to put it all together. While I am self-publishing, I do outsource things like editors and designers. They do it best! I use the Reading List Editorial, who are wonderful to work with and I cannot recommend them enough.

Roadblocks:

  • SEO feels like a Rubik’s cube I just can’t solve. Rankings are creeping up, but it’s slow going. Honestly, as expected.

  • Time. Between all my projects, I’m struggling to fit everything in without feeling like a hamster on a wheel.

Other Creative Adventures

Music and Vocal Demos:

  • I’ve started dabbling with Synthesizer V Studio, and let me tell you, it’s both thrilling and a little intimidating. But hey, every great song starts somewhere.

Hydroponic Tomatoes:

  • My hydroponic setup is officially producing heirloom tomatoes! It’s been a joy documenting the process for my gardening YouTube channel, even if the system occasionally decides to rebel.

Roadblocks:

  • Tutorials for music production and hydroponics can feel like drinking from a firehose. Finding clear, reliable info is a job in itself.

Lessons Learned

Roadblocks might be annoying, but they’re also teaching moments (or so I keep telling myself). Every challenge, whether it’s a budget crunch or a coding hiccup, reminds me why I started these projects in the first place. Progress is messy, but that’s part of the fun—right?

Moving Forward

So, what’s next? I’m focusing on what I can do today to bring these dreams to life:

  • Finding a developer who sees the potential in the greenhouse game and can work within my budget.

  • Exploring grants or crowdfunding for GalaxGlass to keep the stars in sight.

  • Writing posts and looking into collaborating with other bloggers to boost traffic and expand my audience.

If you’re also chasing big dreams and hitting speed bumps, hang in there. The road might be bumpy, but every step forward is worth it.
